Family values and local support at the heart of TEAM Industries’ success

TEAM Industries is a total solutions provider in drivetrain product design applications. They take power and put it to work on the ground, quietly and efficiently. TEAM prides itself on capabilities that include research and development, design, engineering, rapid prototyping, testing, vertically integrated manufacturing, and assembly. TEAM completes its services with commodity management and sales departments that provide drivetrain solutions in the recreational vehicle, off-road, agricultural, and turf care markets.

TEAM was the dream of founder Don Ricke and his wife, Beatrice. In 1967, Don and Bea started Motek in Cambridge within a 5,000 square foot facility. The name has since been changed to TEAM Industries. Today, over 1200 employees operate from 8 facilities across North America with over 1,000,000+ square feet of manufacturing and office space.

TEAM has been driving innovative manufacturing solutions for more than half a century. TEAM’s corporate headquarters is based in Bagley, was built in 1992, and houses some of the world’s top engineers to design, prototype, test, and develop products for their customers.

Next year will be TEAM Audubon’s 40th anniversary, which started in 1984. A decade later, in 1994, TEAM Park Rapids was added, and in 1995 TEAM Detroit Lakes. TEAM acquired its Andrews facility in 1995, in Andrews, North Carolina. They then opened 2 plants in Ramos, Mexico – one in 2013 and one in 2020.

TEAM’s core manufacturing includes turning and milling, and complex automated four and five-axis CNC machining and full assembly. TEAM Industries currently produces over 900,000 assemblies per year.

At the heart of TEAM’s success lies its unique status as a family-owned and operated business. TEAM Industries’ founder, Don Ricke, had a depth of compassion that he projected through helping those in need. His sincere belief in providing goodness for others spilled over into his professional endeavors.

Shortly after TEAM’s first plant was opened, he began donating funds to local communities. Some of the earliest donations were to help support technology in small rural Minnesota schools near the TEAM facilities. Don believed TEAM’s greatest assets were the people and wanted to ensure that youth in the rural areas had the same advantages as those in larger communities. TEAM gives back through its TEAM Foundation and businesses to local schools, health care, and community and human service programs.

Locally, TEAM Industries Audubon and Detroit Lakes and TEAM Foundation have donated funds over the years to help build the DL Community and Cultural Center and the Detroit Lakes Boys and Girls Club and contributed money to help build the Detroit Mountain and some of the local Detroit Lakes Shelters.

TEAM continues to support the surrounding communities by donating money and volunteer time to events and programs such as the Becker County Museum, DLCCC, DL Boys and Girls Club, and Lakes Crisis Center and by sponsoring kids to attend STEM events at the Becker County Museum, sponsoring the local Robotics teams in Frazee, Detroit Lakes, and Lake Park-Audubon and sponsoring kids in 4H. Also granting money or supplies to the Lake Park-Audubon, Frazee, and Detroit Lakes Schools and Hospice, Senior Nutrition, and Community Enrichment Programs.

TEAM also volunteers its time by inspiring kindness and spreading cheer to parents waiting for their kids in parent pick-up lines attending local parades and helping to build boxes for programs like Sam’s Meals. TEAM shines when it comes to being a benevolent company and giving back to its community.
