Grass drag racing is an extremely competitive form of snowmobile racing. The first sled off the starting line is usually the first sled across the finish line- a mere 500 feet away- so getting the hole-shot is key to winning the race. Preparation is, arguably, the most critical in grass drag racing, as so much of the performance depends on a perfectly tuned machine. Because the hole-shot usually determines the outcome of the race, clutching is a primary focus when prepping the sled. Races are generally decided by margin of less than .03 second.
