What's New

Feb 2010:  TEAM wins awards at Polaris supplier conference.

At Polaris' annual supplier conference earlier this month, TEAM received acknowledgement and awards for both outstanding quality and cost saving ideas.  Polaris has been a key customer of TEAM's for decades and we look forward to the festive and informative conference each year.

During the breakout sessions, TEAM's Lean Manufacturing coordinator, Jeremy Leffelman, presented an address on TEAM's program to reduce WIP, lead time, and costs associated with key Polaris transmissions.

The US Patent and Trademark Office has just issued TEAM Industries three new patents:

  1. Patent no. 7,578,759, Torque Limiting Mechanism, describes inventions that limit peak torque spikes that may occur in vehicle drivetrains.  TEAM's PTL (Peak Torque Limiting) devices are presently being used by several OEMs to protect the drivetrains in snowmobiles, ATVs, and other vehicles.
  2. Patent no. 7,581,467, Transmission, controls key portions of a new 6-speed transmission that TEAM developed for large V-twin motorcycles.  This transmission was developed in cooperation with S & S Cycle of Viola, Wisconsin.
  3. Patent no. 7,591,355, Disconnect, was awarded for a unique drive train disconnect for 4-wheel drive systems or transfer case design.  Typically this disconnect would be placed in the transmission or front differential housing to provide automatic, on demand connection of the front wheels when the system detects wheel slippage.  The disconnect can be programmed for different driving conditions or styles, can provide torque spike control, and gives soft engagement of the front wheels.  When coupled with TEAM's SmartLocker differentials, the disconnect gives a complete traction control system that can seamlessly go from turf friendly open differential mode to aggressive 4-wheel drive automatically, on the fly, and on demand.

These patents and other R&D that TEAM is engaged in once again demonstrate that TEAM should be your source for transmission design, gearbox manufacturing, or other drivetrain services and manufacturing.  Contact Us for assistance with your off-road vehicle drivetrain.

TEAM Industries is proud to announce the debut of their new transmissions for Polaris Sportsman ATVs and Ranger SidexSide vehicles. Customers are noticing the quiet difference of the new TEAM transmissions in the new Polaris 2010 models.  At the Polaris Dealer Show in July, this difference was specifically highlighted in the introduction to the new Polaris Ranger XP 800, when it was noted that the transmission was 30% quieter than its predecessor.

TEAM’s design engineers are part of the world renowned Ohio State Gear Lab consortium and use state of the art technology and software to design rugged yet quiet transmissions that deliver all that Polaris power to the ground.

TEAM Industries Corporate Metallurgy Lab (CML) is now available to the public and ready for your business.

TEAM CML is ISO certified and is in its seventh year serving the company in the 3000 sq.ft. facility in Cambridge, MN. TEAM CML has a complete laboratory of certified, state of the art equipment for metals analysis including metallurgical saws, hardness testers from 100g micro-hardness through 3000kg Brinell, microscopes, vision scope and chemical spectrometer available for aluminum and steel chemical analysis.

TEAM CML has an exceptional staff of degreed metallurgists with a combined experience of over 35 years of heat treating, casting, forming and manufacturing industry service. The reports of the metallurgical analysis can be written as a material, heat treat or welding certificate of compliance or as an analysis tool to determine if the metallurgical process was performed correctly per your specification. TEAM CML can help develop a study for metallurgical issues that cause manufacturing delays or nonconformance and get measurable data for analysis and resolution.

TEAM CML can also help identify outside sources for testing not available such as tensile testing, corrosion testing, scanning electron microscopy, etc. This data can all be rolled into one report that can help clarify the metallurgical data and make it useful to manufacturing companies.

TEAM CML‘s on-site basic metallurgical training can be tailored to suit the need of the company and be a very economical way to increase the knowledge of workforce for operators, engineers and managers. Basic classes for 1 to 30 people can be created for heat treating, alloy designation, how to read a material certification, metal forming methods, non destructive testing, etc.

When you need metallurgical answers and you want confidence in the results call TEAM CML at 763-691-2336 or email Jim Ross at jimross@team-ind.com
